Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Welcome to the IVBMB

Mission

It is the IVBMB’s mission to elucidate molecular mechanisms leading to diseases, to lay the foundation for novel therapies and to offer a comprehensive and modern teaching program to students at different levels.

At the IVBMB, we strive to be at the forefront of biomedical research and teaching. We envision the IVBMB as an internationally recognized center for the study and development of new approaches for the future of research and medicine.

The Institute

IVBMB Building
The Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IVBMB) was founded in January 1993 as a branch of the former Institute of Pharmacology and Biochemistry under the name of Institute of Veterinary Biochemistry. Since July 2001, the IVBMB bears its current name and is at the focus of research on:

- DNA repair of oxidative and alkylation damages
- The molecular regulation of inflammation
- Epigenetic modifications
- Transcription of ribosomal genes
- Signaling pathways involved in innate immunity and tumorigenesis
